2019 Puget Sound Crab Season

Photo from the WDFW

Its officially official folks! The WDFW posted its new dates for this summer’s crab season here.

Of note, a few changes from last year looks like many areas have a week or two less than usual. Bellingham where i’ll be at looks about the same as it did last year, from July to end of September.

South Puget sound and Tacoma/Vashon remain closed due in part to hypoxia, or limited oxygen which has caused a decline in crab populations.

Don’t hit the water without reading How to catch Puget Sound Dungeness crab! More good tips and tricks on the way.

Looking forward to getting after it this July, more info to come on some good spots to hit, bait and gear to use and the like! Subscribe to stay tuned! – Spencer

  1. many of us fish only for rock crab in south Puget sound. I know its a crab, but its not in short supply. I feel we should be allowed to still catch rock crab, there is always lots of them, and where they are thick there are no Dungeness . thankyou for your time.
